2009 Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Education
The ANU Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Awards recognise and encourage excellence in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research supervision at the University. Students and staff are invited to nominate now for the four awards for Excellence in Education. Each award has a value of $4,000.

Marian GarcÃa-Valiñas, visiting researcher from INRA-LERNA, Toulouse will be giving the following Seminar entitled Rationing and Length: The impact of water supply interruptions on residential users, next Tuesday 27 October, 4-5:30pm Seminar Room 2, Crawford School Building 13. All are welcome.
Marians primary interests are: Environmental and Resource Economics: Water Economics, Fiscal federalism, Public sector efficiency, Education Economics
This seminar is hosted by the Environmental Economics Research Hub, and is on a similar theme to the Hub project Consumption-based water pricing and price elasticities led by Professor Quentin Grafton

Logic Summer School 7-18 December 2009
Topics will be taught by world experts in their fields.
Registration is now open for the Logic Summer School in December, the 18th in a series. The Summer School will consist of short courses on aspects of pure and applied logic taught by experts from Australia and overseas, and will be held at the ANU. In addition to the scheduled courses, there will be practical sessions giving students the opportunity to use web-based logic software.

Wednesday 14 October is National Ride to Work Day. ANUgreen will host a free breakfast for ANU cyclists from 8am to 9.30am on the lawn facing the Green Office Transportable. Riders will be treated to pancakes, prizes and fairtrade espresso coffee.

Help reintroduce Brown Treecreepers back into Canberra's Nature Reserves
Help bring back the vulnerable Brown Treecreeper to Mulligans Flat and Goorooyarroo Nature Reserves in the ACT. This unique and premier project will involve transporting family groups of this bird species from the Murrumbidgee region in New South Wales to two reserves in the ACT from mid-November this year.

This program is designed to give students experience working on campus sustainability projects within the ANU Sustainability Office (ANUgreen). Students work on projects ranging from energy and water conservation initiatives, behaviour change campaigns/marketing, project management and green building studies. Cycle-to-Campus Challenge 2009
ANUgreen and the Sport and Recreation Association will be running the Go Green, Get Lean Cycle-to-Campus Challenge, a cycle-commuting fitness program for ANU staff and full-time post-graduate students. The 10 week challenge provides a structured and appealing framework for participants to make the transition from inactivity and motorised commuting to cycling to campus and exercising regularly.

Excavation Work - RSBS Compound off the Sullivan's Creek Link Road
As part of the University's push to remove it's reliance on potable water for landscape irrigation purposes, a 120,000 litre underground tank is being installed inside the RSBS compound to harvest rainwater from a new glasshouse facility.
