RasRufus and Miles O'Connell Quartet perform for "Jazz at the Gallery"

Jazz at the Gallery presents a night of modern jazz by ANU SoM students and alumni with the Double Bill of RasRufus and the Miles O'Connell Quartet.

The joining of forces of Henry Rasmussen and Victor Rufus to bring you music of global inspiration. Henry, originally from Sydney, draws from inspirational players and composers such as Wayne Shorter, Hiromi Uehara, Elvin Jones and Roy Haynes to bring you a fresh modern sound that will be one to look out for in the coming future. Victor, just recently returning from Europe, brings to the bandstand a plethora of sounds and concepts heard right from Jim Hall, Bill Evans and Oscar Peterson to more modern players of the likes of Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jonathan Kreisberg and Lage Lund.

Featuring: Victor Rufus on guitar, Henry Rasmussen on drums, Thomas Sly on trumpet and flugelhorn, Andy Butler on piano and Jared Plane on bass.

Featuring: Miles O’Connell on tenor saxophone, Daniel Kim on guitar, Max Alduca on bass and Luke Keanan-Brown on drums. The group performs instrumental improvised music in a modern style
that spans the decades, inspired by everyone from Aaron Parks, Joe Henderson and Miguel Zenon to Radiohead, Massive Attack and Bjork.

The group will be recording and releasing their debut album in late 2012.
