Tourism in Antarctica – A personal account.
In December 2011, Carol McAlwee skied the last degree to the South Pole, without a doubt undertaking one of the more incredible journeys on earth. Much the same as the first explorers did 100 years ago, skiing seven hours a day towing a sled with equipment and provisions, in average temperatures of minus 25 degrees, Carol made her way to 90 degrees South arriving at the Pole on 28 December.
If you would like to hear about the journey, view the magnificent photos, learn more about Antarctica and opportunities for travel in Antarctica, come along to the lunchbox session.
