The road to reconciliation is sometimes a bumpy one, with roundabouts, wrong turns and a lot of give way signs. Anita’s own journey to becoming an Official Supporter of National Reconciliation Week in 2012 has been an interesting journey, beginning at a women’s reconciliation dinner in Brisbane in 1997.
In this, her official NRW address you will hear the author’s experiences and thoughts on the reconciliation process, the role of education in uniting the nation, and where she finds the inspiration for her work, including her most recent title on identity.
Dr Anita Heiss has published historical fiction, children’s and adult novels, social commentary, travel articles and a text book on publishing Aboriginal literature. She is an Ambassador for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and the 2012 National Year of Reading. Anita’s latest book is a memoir titled Am I Black Enough For You?
The lecture wil be followed by a book signing and light refreshments
